## Molecular Sieve Dehydration Unit (MSDU) ##
For drying liquid phase alcohols or solvents by molecular sieve dehydration. Wintek Model MSDU-M02.05, serial 110401.
The unit is steam regeneration, 600 volt, 3 phase, 60Hz. The capacity is 2 gallons per minute. Includes a 10HP vacuum pump and a 1HP transfer pump. Complete system wired and piped, mounted on skid.
- Operation
This Liquid Phase MSDU Design passes a liquid stream of wet alcohol or solvent through a column filled with molecular sieve beads in a process known as molecular sieve dehydration. The bed of sieve beads adsorbs water molecules from the liquid as it passes through it. This occurs due to polar attraction. The internal surfaces of the molecular sieve adsorbs more of the water as the bulk liquid flows through the column. This continues until the molecular sieves are at capacity, and dried alcohol product (or solvent) exits the column. This process continues until the sieve becomes saturated with water, at which time the molecular sieve must be changed, or regenerated. NOTE: This unit was in working order when idled in 2018. It has been moved outside to a laydown yard in 2023. Unit will need a complete reconditioning. The manufacturer, Wintek, still suports this unit and can recondition it in their NJ factory
