Description

The IRM 3350 2-High Laboratory Rolling Mill is a mid-scale laboratory rolling mill designed to support both instructional use and applied research, offering greater capacity and rigidity than compact bench-top units while maintaining a footprint suitable for laboratory and R&D environment. The IRM 3350 is positioned between compact bench-top rolling mills and larger, higher-capacity laboratory or production rolling systems.

The mill is driven by an AC motor with variable speed control, transmitting power through a mechanical drivetrain with integrated reduction gearing. This configuration provides controlled rolling speeds, stable low-RPM operation, and predictable torque delivery—supporting both hands-on instruction in rolling fundamentals and more demanding experimental rolling work.

Compared to smaller laboratory mills, the IRM 3350 features a larger frame, increased roll capacity, and a more robust roll train, offering improved stiffness and reduced deflection under load. These characteristics support consistent thickness control, repeatable results, and meaningful process evaluation across multiple rolling passes.

Key Features
2-High rolling mill configuration for laboratory, instructional, and research use
Hardened steel work rolls (~60–62 HRC) for improved wear resistance, surface finish retention, and repeatable rolling performance
3 HP AC motor with variable speed control and drivetrain-mounted reduction gearing
Increased frame rigidity and roll capacity compared to bench-top laboratory mills
Stable, controllable operation suitable for both teaching and experimentation
Precision roll gap adjustment for accurate thickness control
Footprint suitable for university laboratories and applied research spaces

Available Optional Features & Upgrades
Heated Roll Package – Electrically heated rolls with closed-loop temperature control for warm and hot rolling applications
Load Cell Integration – Separating force measurement for process monitoring and validation
Digital Height Indicators – High-resolution roll gap readout for repeatable setup
