All gearreducers must have a breather vent. This allows for expansion and contraction of the air within the casing as a result of temperature changes. If a gear box is used without a breather, oil leakage and seal failure may result. Gear boxes may or may not have oil or breather. Buyer is responsible to insure gear box is properly vented and has proper oil and oil level prior to use.
