The Hoshizaki AM-50BAJ-DS undercounter ice maker produces top-hat ice€”gourmet cubes that measure 0.875 inches by 1 inch. These cubes are often used in upscale restaurants and bars or banquet halls. The condenser is air cooled, meaning fans move air over the condensing coils where refrigerant runs so that the refrigerant can remove heat from the evaporator. Through this process, ice running over the evaporator plate freezes and forms cubes. In 24 hours, the unit can make 51 pounds, and it has storage space for 22 pounds.
The power switch is accessible without removing the front panel, and because the ice maker has few moving parts, the risk of failure is small.
