Description

The GANESH CYCLONE-32 CS is a 7-axis 1.375” (36mm) bar diameter sliding headstock CNC lathe without a guide bushing. This facilitates fast set up, allows greater work piece concentricity, and provides superior cutting rigidity over conventional Swiss-style lathes. The CYCLONE-32 CS provides for short cycle times because the Counter Spindle can work simultaneously with the Main Spindle. The CYCLONE-32 CS does not require the use of ground bar stock or a guide bushing, as required with most Swiss-style machines. No
ground stock requirement and no guide bushing means much shorter bar remnants. These both represent a substantial cost savings by conserving material and reducing change over time which improves profitability.

The CYCLONE-32 CS CNC is very robust and rigid machine. The heavy ribbed box cast machine weighs nearly 8,000 pounds! The machine can make aggressive rough cuts and then finish with a second tool while achieving much greater tool life on all tools. The GANESH

CYCLONE-32 CS allows for multiple tool passes
with rough and finish cutting of all part features. Standard Swiss machine cuts are limited to the length of the guide bushing. Longer cuts must be micro-fed at full depth with one-tool in just one-pass, which burns up expensive tooling, limiting production efficiency and adding cost. These advantages are particularly evident in tougher materials where the capability of the Cyclone-32 CS really excels.

The GANESH CYCLONE-32 CS lathe features a total of 27-tool stations. The Main Spindle can use 18 tools. There are 4-live cross tools, 3-live axial tools, 6-turning tool stations, and 5-ID tool stations, all in a gang configuration. It is possible to creatively tool for added capacity by double-tooling ID-tools stations with dual insert boring bar holders will allow rough and finish boring, boring and turning, boring and threading, with one tool position without spindle reversals. The Counter Spindle has 9-tool stations including 4-driven stations.

The CYCLONE-32 CS Main Spindle features oversized 110mm bearings and a 7.28” X-axis stroke, a Y-axis travel of 19.3” for full off-centerline machining capability. Z-axis stroke is 6.5 inches. Both Main and Counter Spindle have a high-performance C-axis with full contouring and 360,000 radial positions (0.001-degree resolution). C-axis operations facilitate engraving and machining other complex part details. The 5-station fixed ID gang tooled slide uses solid bushings or ER-20 collets to hold cutting tools. The Counter Spindle has X-axis stroke of 11.5 inches, Z-axis stroke of 11.6 inches and a full-featured rotary C-axis with 360,000 radial
positions. 11 ER-20 driven holders are included with the machine for tool shanks up to ½” (13mm).

Machine Bed
The one-piece heavy-duty box style torque-tube machine bed and base casting is made of a high-density Meehanite processed cast iron structure that is heavily ribbed to increase lateral stiffness and maximize stress absorption during the turning process. The torque-tube casting ensures that no twisting occurs in the bed during heavy cutting, or as a result of thermal migration. The low center of gravity cast bed weighs 6,000 pounds and
the design gives superb vibration control, which provides for superior surface finish and increased tool life. The assembled machine weighs over 7,820 pounds making it the heaviest machine in its class.

Precision Linear Ways
All five linear axis; X, Y, Z, X2 & Z2 utilize heavy-duty ball- type
linear ways to ensure sustained high accuracy machining results,
as well as efficient machining performance. The fast rapid
traverse rates reduce non-cutting time and the low stick/slip
characteristics of the linear way design ensure superior complex
workpiece shape definition because the axes precisely follow the
control contour commands.

Ball Screws & Bearings
Premium quality double-nut ballscrews are double-anchored to ensure high accuracy and long service life. The ballscrew nuts are preloaded and forced lubricated, and together with the linear ways are laser aligned during machine assembly. The ballscrew rotational torque is checked over the entire travel to ensure trouble-free nonbinding alignment to minimize wear and limit thermal migration to ensure high machining accuracy.

Machine Spindle
The machine spindle features 5 high quality Class-7 (P4) 110mm bearings with 3-front bearings and 2-rear bearings, which are lubricated for life. The spindles are dynamically balanced to eliminate vibration for better surface finish and workpiece accuracy. This extra attention to detail in assembly produces a spindle with higher concentricity that generates less heat and maintains a longer operational service life. Every spindle is put
through a 72-hour test run prior to assembly that records any thermal gradients or spindle vibration. This process ensures many years of trouble-free production use. The spindle is driven by a multi-ribbed offset drive belt to enhance the cutting torque for more efficient metal removal over a wide range of spindle speeds.

Spindle Motor
The spindles are both driven by highly reliable Mitsubishi series motors designed specifically for heavy-duty machine tool applications. The motors are balanced within 5-microns to provide state-of-the-art surface finishes. The motors are designed with less rotor inertia than standard induction motors and features a large diameter output shaft and heavy-duty radial load bearings for a long service life. This means faster acceleration and deceleration rates and reduced cycle time for increased productivity. The Mitsubishi series motor is
matched to a Mitsubishi servo amplifier module which provides a variable current to the spindle motor ensuring high reliability and accuracy in angular positioning for superior thread-start positioning, engraving, and other live tool machining where accurate angularity is required for precise shape definition in your workpiece.
