Used 24" (609 mm) R&D / Pilot Paper Machine, originally designed as a fiber pilot line for gasket and specialty fiber products.

Major Components

Headbox:
Stainless steel Hogenkamp headbox with approximately 27" pond width. Equipped with (2) internal dilution rolls and bar thickness adjustment, approximately 6–60 mil.

Forming Section:
Stainless steel Fourdrinier table, approximately 12 ft long. Includes approximately (14) felt rolls, (3) stainless steel suction boxes, and 12" OD breast roll.

Press Section:
(2) LG Industries press sections with rubber-covered blind-drilled rolls. Designed for high- and low-pressure pressing up to approximately 500 PLI. Presses can also be operated at lower pressure or with minimal-pressure gauge control depending on product requirements.

Dryer Section No. 1:
(10) dryer cans consisting of (9) Sandy Hill and (1) Black Clawson. Approximately 48" dia. x 36" face. National Board stamped, rated 150 psi. Approximate shell thickness 7/8" and head thickness 1-1/4".

Inclined Coater:
Air-operated S-wrap type coater.

Dryer Section No. 2:
(6) dryer cans consisting of (3) Sandy Hill and (3) Black Clawson. Approximately 48" dia. x 36" face, National Board stamped and rated 150 psi.

Calender:
LG Industries 2-roll calender with approximately 16" x 32" top roll and 18" x 32" bottom roll. Includes Mt. Hope bowed roll and idler.

Winder:
Surface-type winder with approximately 32" x 16" drum.

Original Design Data

Designed for softwood kraft, synthetic fibers, Kevlar and other man-made fibers with fillers/additives including clay, latex, cork dust and rubber buffings.

Original batch throughput design: approximately 2,400 gallons from precipitation tanks at 1–2% consistency, representing approximately 202–409 lb per batch with run times up to approximately 4.2 hours.

Stock consistency approximately 1–2% at the headbox, 35–45% after couch, 50–70% after press section and approximately 97% solids after drying.
