The Gleason No. 514 Hypoid Lapper affords fast lapping times, improved
quality, accurate contol, and increased flexibility. The swing pinion cone
(SPC) lapping action, combined with the conventional pinion horizontal and
backlash motions, permits fast and accurate lapping of the tooth surface.
The SPC lapping method produces pinions and gears precisely mated to operate
with maximum smoothness and quietness.
