The Hegenscheidt-MFD gantry wheel lathe is a high production wheel lathe that is easy to operate and maintain. The gantry design allows wheel sets to roll through the lathe on workshop rails. The mechanical elements and drive system are designed for cutting performance up to 32 mm² per tool station. This ensures short floor-to-floor time for re-profiling, even under extreme wheel wear conditions.
Headstocks are mounted on each side of the gantry type bed, with integrated drivers, centers and a main drive system mounted on each headstock. Both headstocks are movable for ease of loading and unloading functions.
