Description

2001 Yonkers Pneumatic Press, Everything Works Perfectly.

This was 1 of 20 identical presses that were used to mold small parts on the F-22 Raptor prior to being decommissioned in 2009. I was the only buyer for much of the surplus, press equipment at the time and purchased this one and only example from the Rigging Company that was removing all the equipment from Skunkworks in Palmdale, CA.

This is the last and only known example that exists today. At the time I did not have room in my facility for more of these presses and sadly as I understand it, the last remaining 19 examples, were scrapped.

There is story to these presses...

They were made on the fly by an engineer it was named after because some other more sophisticated hydraulic presses (two of which I also own) were late from the manufacturer. Rather than be late for the Government's deliverables, this particular engineer decided to set about making this elegantly simple and reliable Pneumatic Press using materials and tools they had on-hand and made 20 copies in record breaking time.

USA Buyers Only!

So as they say "when the going gets tough the tough get going"...it's one of my favorite stories from the industry that I've heard over my 26 years in the aerospace field.

We have lovingly restored it with new high-temp, color changing paint, new cartridge heaters and and updated controller and logic system. Everything works and the lead screws all function properly. There is even a mechanical stop switch mechanism that is just again, one of the very cool features on this one of a kind Press.

The heated platens are aluminum so you can run anything on this up to I would say 350F. So, basically all epoxy materials will work.

The active heating area is: 50"x13".

The table is 71"x23" so this is a fairly large machine. It is capable of molding and heating a long sUAS fuselage or set of wings.

This would not be for fast cycle time/materials however, you can certainly mold something in the 45 to 180 minute range.

We are capable of advising, training, customizing, loading and transporting this piece of equipment anywhere in the Continental USA.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions as you have them.
