Niagara 3009E6-480SMDV severe duty, marine duty, automatic start and stop, soap control at gun, cold water pressure washer designed for multiple gun operation, with a total output of approximately 8.6 gpm at 3000 psi. The recommended set up is for a maximum of two guns in operation at the same time with each operating 4.3 gpm at 3000 psi. With this set up additional guns in operation will reduce the pressure and flow to all the guns. This could also be set up for 3 gun operation by changing the nozzle sizes so that each gun would provide (8.6/3=) 2.9 gpm at 3000 psi. In addition, the pressure can be changed in the field by changing one parameter in the variable frequency drive.

Functional description:
Pump operation:
• The motor driving the pump is controlled by a variable speed soft start, drive which has on/off switch.
• Off, power to the drive is off.
• On, the motor is in “stand-by” the motor is off until signaled to start.
• When a trigger gun is operated, the pressurized water supply allows a small amount of water to be discharged at the spray gun which initiates the flow switch and ramps up the motor speed to achieve set pressure and flow.
• When flow is detected at the flow switch the pressure sensor controls the drive increasing or decreasing the speed to maintain the operating pressure.
• When both guns are off the motor speed is ramped down to a stop and the motor control is in stand-by until a gun is operated, and the motor is started, and pressure increases to the set operating pressure.

Utilities required: 480 volt, 60 Hz, 3 phase electrical supply with disconnect and water supply of at least 15 gpm at 30 psi.

Motor variable speed drive: Enclosure is non-metallic NEMA4X/IP66, 480 volt, 60 Hz, 3 phase, 25 HP, 31 amp, 40oC ambient (24.8 amp at 50oC) heavy duty service, soft start motor starter, 24 VDC control power transformer, Soft PLC built in, integrated keypad with LCD display, with disconnect switch. Control inputs:
• When flow is recognized by the flow switch the motor is started and the speed is regulated by the signal from the pressure transmitter.
• The motor speeds up to achieve the set pressure and slows when the set pressure is exceeded. When the motor speed is less than 1/3 of the pump rated rpm (minimum operating speed of the pump), the motor is shut down.
• When there is no flow, the motor is shut down.

Motor: 20 hp, 1175 rpm, 460 vac, 3 phase, 60 hz, 1.25 service factor at 40oC ambient (1.15 service factor at 50oC ambient), 284/6TC, C-face, IP56, Class “F” insulated, tropicalized internal coating, inverter duty, severe duty, IEEE 841-2021 totally enclosed fan cooled electric motor. CSA and UL listed Class 1, Div 2, Gr A, B, C and D -T3.

Drive: pump is fitted with a c-face adapter which bolts directly to the motor. This “close coupling” is an important safety feature where the arrangement provides a fail-safe guard for rotating parts meaning the guard (pump adaptor) has to be in place to operate the pump.

Pump: Giant model P425HP German-made reciprocating triplex plunger pump with aluminum crankcase, sight glass, vented dipstick; forged, through-hardened, ground, and polished crankshaft; bronze connecting rods; hardened stainless steel plunger bases; solid ceramic plungers; nitrile seals (with fabric reinforcing); stainless steel valves; and forged brass manifold, rated 22.5 hp, 1450 rpm, 10.7 gpm, 3045 psi. The pump is designed to be operated approximately 1160 rpm, 8.6 gpm at 3000 psi for two gun operation and 580 rpm, 4.3 gpm at 3000 psi for one gun operation.

Note: When this type of pump is operated at 50% of rated pressure the life of the pump is doubled and when operated at 50% of the rated rpm the life of the pump is quadrupled. In this case when two guns are in operation the pump is operated at (1160/1450=) 80% of the rated rpm and when operating one gun (580/1450=) 40% of the rated rpm. Therefore, the life of the pump is substantially increased.

Inlet water strainer: heavy duty 1” cast bronze with 40 mesh screen.

Flow switch: electronic, no moving parts, 316L stainless steel, explosion proof, NEMA 4X.

Pressure regulating valve: primary pressure relief.

Safety relief valve: redundant pressure relief.

Pressure transmitter: wetted materials stainless steel.

Hoses, (2 each) 1/2" x 100' with quick couplers.

Trigger guns, (2 each) gun, lance, and nozzles.

Base: heavy duty galvanized steel with forklift slots and provisions for optional casters provides a compact (27” x 36”) footprint.
