NOV Elmagco Brake 7040W

General Description
• Model: NOV Elmagco Brake 7040W
• Application: Designed for use in drawworks systems on drilling rigs where precise, high‐cycle braking is critical to control cable movement and protect the rig.
Performance Parameters
• Torque Capacity:
 – Typically rated to handle torque levels in the vicinity of 40,000–45,000 lb‑ft (actual rating may vary with hydraulic settings and system configuration).
• Operating Speed:
 – Optimized for low-speed operation (generally up to about 600 rpm) to ensure smooth, controlled engagement during frequent cycles.
• Hydraulic Actuation:
 – Actuated via a hydraulic circuit, generally operating at pressures between 2000–3000 psi for rapid, repeatable brake engagement.
Construction & Materials
• Materials:
 – Constructed from high‑strength, heat‑treated alloy or carbon steel for enhanced durability.
 – Friction surfaces are typically treated with advanced composite or friction materials engineered for consistent performance and extended wear life.
• Thermal Management:
 – Integrated cooling features (such as vented designs or cooling fins) help dissipate heat generated during prolonged, high‑cycle operation.
Integration & Design Features
• Mounting & Interfacing:
 – Precisely machined mounting faces and standardized interfaces ensure compatibility with NOV drawworks systems.
• Cycle Life & Maintenance:
 – Designed for long service intervals and ease of maintenance, which minimizes downtime in high‑cycle drilling environments.
