The Maschio Giraffa M SE is an externally geared side-offset flail mower offered here in 120, 140, 160, and 180 models. The external gearbox gives the mower greater side reach than the internally geared SI configuration. That extra reach is especially useful along ditch banks, field edges, and roadsides.
Hydraulic side shift and hydraulic tilt allow the mower head to work directly behind the tractor, offset to the side, or at an angle. Maschio specifies a movement range from 65 degrees below horizontal to 90 degrees above horizontal. The Giraffa M also uses a floating head, self-leveling three-point hitch, electronically balanced hammer-flail rotor, and adjustable self-cleaning rear roller.

All four models use a 540 RPM PTO. Maschio lists the Giraffa M for tractors with a maximum tread width of 4.9 feet. The 120 uses a Category I narrow three-point hitch; the larger models use a Category I hitch. Hydraulic service is required for side shift and head-angle adjustment.
