The McCloskey 628RE Wheeled Portable Trommel Screen Plant is a heavy-duty, high-production screening system designed for sand and gravel, topsoil, compost, mulch, recycling, and other demanding applications. Its combination of large screening area, aggressive tumbling action, and high-capacity material handling makes it particularly effective with wet, sticky, or difficult-to-screen material.
At the heart of the 628RE is a massive 6' diameter × 28' long trommel drum, providing approximately 370 sq. ft. of screening area. The large-diameter drum creates aggressive lifting and cascading action to break apart material and continually expose it to the screening surface. The 28-foot drum length provides extended retention time, helping maximize finished-product recovery while minimizing valuable material carried into the oversize.
A 6.5 yd³ hopper provides substantial feed capacity, while integrated hydraulically folding conveyors efficiently move and stockpile finished products. The remote-controlled radial fines conveyor can produce stockpiles approximately 16 feet high, reducing loader handling and allowing the plant to operate efficiently in high-production applications.
The wheeled, tri-axle design provides excellent portability between jobs while maintaining the size and durability required for serious production. Setup can be completed in approximately 10 minutes, allowing contractors to move quickly from transport to operation.
