The Starrett VB400 benchtop optical comparator is an optical measurement instrument featuring a 16-inch (400mm) diameter screen, typically equipped with a precision angular measuring scale offering 1-minute resolution. The instrument provides a standard workstage travel range of 10 inches (250mm) in the x-axis and 6 inches (150mm) in the y-axis, complemented by 2 inches (50mm) of focus travel. Positional measurement is achieved through linear encoders, delivering a resolution of 0.00005 inches (0.001mm). Illumination options include both profile (diascopic) and surface (episcopic) lighting, commonly utilizing halogen sources. The system operates on a 120 VAC, 1-phase power supply.
