USED MOLECULAR DEVICES QPIX 420 MICROBIAL COLONY PICKER
Overview
Description
The Molecular Devices QPix® 420 Microbial Colony Picker is a high-throughput automated colony picking system designed to identify, analyze, and transfer microbial colonies from agar plates into microplates for downstream applications. Using integrated CCD imaging and advanced image analysis software, the system automatically selects colonies based on characteristics such as size, shape, color, fluorescence, and proximity, significantly reducing manual labor while improving reproducibility.
The QPix 420 is capable of picking up to 3,000 colonies per hour in white-light mode and supports applications including clone screening, microbial strain selection, synthetic biology, genomics, and industrial microbiology. It incorporates automated pin washing, drying, and optional fluorescence imaging to maintain sterility and enhance colony selection accuracy.
