The DMG Mori NL1500Y/500 is a high-performance CNC turning center built for precision multi-axis machining. Equipped with a Y-axis and a 12-station live tooling turret, this machine is capable of complex milling, drilling, and turning operations in a single setup — reducing cycle times and improving part accuracy. Spindle Performance

The main spindle reaches 6,000 RPM with a 14.8 HP output, making it well-suited for a wide range of materials including steel, aluminum, and stainless. A 2.40-inch through-spindle bore accommodates bar work up to that diameter, and the Kitagawa 6-inch hollow chuck provides secure, repeatable workholding. Oil cooler-assisted spindle cooling helps maintain thermal stability during long production runs, extending tool life and holding tighter tolerances.

Y-Axis and Live Tooling Capability

The NL1500Y/500 features a true Y-axis, enabling off-center milling and cross-drilling that would otherwise require a second setup on a machining center. The 12-station turret supports bolt-mounted live tools, giving operators the flexibility to perform complex contours, keyways, flats, and radial features in one chucking. This makes the machine an ideal solution for shops producing complex turned parts in medium to high volumes.

Mitsubishi MAPPS 2 Control

The Mitsubishi M-720BM control with MAPPS 2 conversational programming software allows operators to create and edit programs directly at the machine with minimal G-code experience. With 320 MB of program storage, up to 200 stored programs, 6 work coordinate pairs, and 200 custom macro variables, the control is well-equipped for both job shop flexibility and dedicated production work. All screens are in English.

Automation-Ready Configuration

This machine is configured for lights-out and automated production environments. It includes an LNS multiple-bar bar feeder interface, a work unloader, and a single chuck footswitch — making it straightforward to integrate into an automated cell. The right-side hinge chip conveyor keeps the work area clear during unattended runs, and the manual in-machine tool presetter supports quick tool changeovers.
