Q: Can the HSG G4020H replace a plasma cutter or waterjet?
A: For most sheet and plate work, yes — and it is the most common reason shops buy one. Against plasma you get tighter tolerances and a cleaner edge that usually needs no secondary cleanup. Against waterjet you get speed, often several times faster on the same sheet, with no abrasive cost. If thick plate is what has you considering waterjet, more laser power is usually the better answer than a different process — a 20 kW or 30 kW machine cuts carbon steel well past two inches, and the GV and GFA series go heavier still. Q: Where are HSG lasers made? Is HSG a Chinese company?
A: Yes — HSG is a Chinese manufacturer headquartered in Guangdong, and a partner we chose deliberately. They have built metal-shaping equipment since 2006, run their optical R&D centre in Japan, operate subsidiaries across Asia, Europe and North America, and build to European CE standards. You choose whether an IPG or Raycus source goes inside, and parts ship from Chicago and Los Angeles rather than overseas.

Q: Is HSG a reliable brand for a shop buying its first fiber laser?
A: Absolutely, and we did our due diligence before selling HSGs. Doug and Shaun MacLean have spent decades selling metal fabrication equipment across the country, and we do not put our name on a line we have not checked.
