Colchester Triumph 2000 – Gap-Bed Centre Lathe
The Colchester Triumph 2000 is a classic, British-built centre lathe — a durable, workshop-proven machine combining precision, power, and versatility. Fully refurbished and ready to work, it’s ideal for general-purpose machining, prototyping, small-batch production or maintenance work.
Key Specifications
Distance between centres: approx. 30″ (≈ 762 mm) on shorter-bed versions — compact yet capable.
Swing over bed: approx. 15″ (≈ 387–390 mm) — able to handle substantial workpiece diameters.
Swing over cross-slide: approx. 9″ (≈ 240 mm) — making it suitable for a broad range of turning tasks.
Spindle bore: 54 mm (≈ 2 ⅛″) with D1-6 Camlock — allowing the use of fairly large stock.
Spindle speed range: 25–2,000 rpm (16-step gearbox) — enabling flexibility for both roughing and fine finishing operations.
Bed type: Gap-bed — giving extra swing capacity in the “gap” for larger diameter work when required.
Features & Included Accessories
Quick-change toolpost (QCTP) with multiple holders — simplifies tooling changes and enhances efficiency.
Supplied with chucks (3-jaw, and often 4-jaw / faceplate depending on version) — for a variety of workholding configurations.
Equipped with a 2-axis Digital Readout (DRO) — enabling precise control and repeatability, very beneficial for repeat jobs or accurate finishing.
Integrated coolant system — useful for extended machining or when working with materials requiring cooling for improved surface finish and tool life.
Reground slideways (on refurbished units) — restoring bed and carriage alignment for smoother, more accurate operations.
Suitable for both imperial and metric screw-cutting / threading (depending on gear set) — giving flexibility if you work on mixed-standard parts.
