This is Starrett's entry into the more high-end digital roughness tester market. I purchased two of them for my shop but found I really have no need for a second - so it has only seen one pass across the standard specimen (Included) just to check for accuracy out of the box and got stored away "just in case", but never used again - I still use the first of the two and have not had any need to change them out.
The capabilities are very impressive - Most any roughness unit used by machinists are available on the device. I love the visuals it displays, with and without the graph. Settings are really simple to find and change to your particular needs, not so complicated that you need a book just to set it up how you like.

Personally, I'm a big fan - after using the Mahr Pocket Surf IV for many years, this is a big step up in visuals and particularly LOVE the option to slide the display off of the stylus and use it remotely so that my readings don't ever risk accuracy from potential hand movements, etc.
"Brand New" cost averages around ~$2300-$3000 depending on the vendor if you research online.
One photo is of the actual unit I have, but included some from Starrett as well since they are much better for understanding its abilities. If you have any interest, I am more than happy to provide any additional information, photos, videos, etc. should you request it. Thank you!
